If you look at the picture and can’t figure out what is wrong with it, then please read this till the end. If you can figure it out, join the movement to spread awareness so others know how some of these annoying, disgusting and downright unhygienic habits have got to STOP.
Using public toilets in India, with their abysmally low standard of hygiene, is an ordeal in itself. But, these things make it worse — some are mild irritants; others are extremely unhealthy.
1. Leaving the toilet seat up
If you pee standing up for whatever reason, or just hover over the seat, please have the courtesy to lower the seat for the majority of the population who prefers it that way.
2. Not flushing
If the flush works, use it, woman! Sometimes, when this is not the case and you see another woman headed your way, a heads up would be nice.
3. Discarding used sanitary pads on the toilet floor
If you can’t afford to use one that comes with a wrap, carry newspapers, recycle plastic bags or anything that can be used as a wrap and dispose it in the nearest bin. Leaving it on the floor is not acceptable.
4. Not washing hands
After you are done, even if you think you haven’t ‘touched’ anything, do the rest of us a favour and wash your hands. With soap.
5. Leaving the seat wet
We do not want to guess, know or wonder whether you have left any bodily fluids or even console ourselves by assuming that it is only water. It is very difficult to clean and not our job. So you need to wipe it.
6. Singing/talking across cubicles/or talking on the phone
Eeewwww!
7. Not docking the jet spray
Remove, use, re-place.
8. Dripping all over
Washing your face or your hands? Don’t just shake your hands all over the floor. Someone might crack a rib or two slipping on the wet floor and it will be your fault!
