Breast cancer is a dreaded condition, yet Indian women are at a high risk! There has been a rise in the number of cases these days due to several risk factors. One of them is late pregnancy. Due to reasons such as late marriages, career goals, need for financial stability, etc. many women have a late pregnancy i.e. conceive after the age of 35. These are not only high-risk pregnancies but also put women at a risk of breast cancer.
According to experts, a late or no pregnancy increases your chances of breast cancer. In fact, a woman who has given birth lowers her chances of breast cancer by 30%. Dr Bhavin Shah, a senior oncologist, says that women have late pregnancies these days and it is one of the factors that is putting them at risk of breast cancer. Not getting pregnant at all is another one. Women who avoid pregnancy can put themselves at a greater risk of this dreaded disease.
